As of Friday, March 27th TWO fees that effect the closing costs of your home purchase have increased:
[Changes take effect July 1st, 2015]
Mortgage Land Title Registration
When you purchase a home you register the title, for that piece of land, with the Alberta Gov’t.
The fee to process this registration is now $75, up from $50.
Variable Mortgage Land Title Registration
When registering your home and Mortgage on title of the land you’ve purchased, your variable fee to do so is now
$6 for every $5,000 of Mortgage you are borrowing. This is an increase from $1 to $6!
Why This Matters To You?
At EVERY angle of your home purchase, either the Government, or another service provider, is digging into YOUR pockets.
There isn’t much you can do about the Government fees – so what CAN you do?
